ATNF Documentation Available by ftp

This section lists the contents of the pub/atnfdocs directory. Each subdirectory also contains its own README file with a full listing of the files therein.

/proposals
This directory contains various application forms and documentation to apply for observing time with the Australia Telescope Compact Array, the Parkes Telescope, the Mopra Telescope, the Long Baseline Array and information on VLBI proposals.
/schedules
Observing schedules for the ATCA.
/site_guides
Guides to accommodation, costs etc. at Epping, Narrabri, Parkes and Mopra
/guides
Technical Guides and manuals (e.g., this document, AIPS, MIRIAD).

The following file extension convention is adopted:

.txt
(ASCII) Plain text files.
.tex
(ASCII) LATEX files.
.ps
(ASCII) PostScript ® files.
.ps.Z
(BINARY) Compressed PostScript ® files that can be transferred across the Internet more efficiently. After FTP'ing them (using binary mode!), use the Unix command uncompress to recover the original PostScript ® files.
.doc
(BINARY) Microsoft Word ® files made using Word for Windows 2.0 ® in Table format. Logo is embedded. Times and Helvetica fonts may be used to replace the truetype Times New Roman and Arial fonts if these are not supported on your printer.

NOTE: PC users running Ghostscript version 3.12 may encounter a problem when viewing some postscript files. (This is fixed in gs V3.2x). Ghostview may abort without displaying anything, after an error message of /undefined in -setpagedevice-. To correct this, search for the line beginning with the string: /sgd in each of the .ps files, and change the string /systemdict to /statusdict. You should then be able to view and print the file.
