CACOR: Block Crashes

The CACOR controls the correlator blocks. Occasionally they will fail for some reason, most often at the beginning of observing run during correlator configuration programming (CACOR asks you to act upon this, and both CAOBS and ASSISTANCE report the error).

Usually all you need to do is to re-program the blocks. This is done from the CACOR GUI.

CAOBS$>$ stop  Must stop before reprogramming the blocks.
Click the config button in CACOR.  A screen should pop up, and display (in the blink of an eye) the progress of the reprogramming. If this succeeds, the window will close down again.

If this fails, the popup display will indicate which blocks have failed. Try the prog command from within the popup display, which will try again to program the blocks, however, if this fails, you need to do a hardware reset of the blocks themselves. This involves going down to the screened room and locating the recalcitrant blocks:

Determine which blocks need to be reset.  It will usually be a set of 3.
Open the perspex doors of the bottom block.

Press the white reset button.  Be sure that the ``heart beat'' light blinks again, as on the other blocks.

 Re-program the correlator:
Click the config button.  In the CACOR window.

Ensure that you fill in the Site Log Book.
