Data File Sizes

ATCA data is archived on CD-ROM. As a single CD-ROM can hold a maximum of 650MB of data, we recommend that no more than 600MB be stored on one as there can be difficulties reading CDs with large amounts of data. Therefore, we ask that you keep your individual data files to 250MB or less. Use the CAMON /status page to check the size of the current file. ASSISTANCE will warn you once the current file is larger than this amount.

At intervals of no longer than 3 hours (depending on how quickly your observations accumulate data), you should close the data file and open another one:

 CAOBS$>$ stop
 CAOBS$>$ corr closefile
CAOBS$>$ start n[/m]  To restart on the appropriate source in your observing program.
