Financial Matters

Banks are open 9:30am to 4pm weekdays only. Some banks' (e.g., ANZ, St George and Advance Bank) branches open on Saturday mornings, however not the Narrabri branches. International bank drafts, travellers cheques (or travelers checks) and credit cards are the easiest and cheapest way to bring money to Australia. Most commercial establishments accept Mastercard (= Cirrus), Visa (= Carte Blanc) and American Express. Automatic teller machines are easily found in cities and towns. The value of the Australian dollar is available from currency converter websites. No charge is made for use of ATNF facilities with the following exceptions:

Accommodation charges are listed on the web. For long-term visitors, special prices can be arranged if the accommodation is available for the that period, contact accommodation@atnf.csiro.au.

Local and international calls can be made from ATNF sites however please arrange to pay for lengthy or multiple calls. During working hours please purchase a phone card ($10 or $20) if you intend to make calls. This can be done from reception if at Narrabri, or from Vicki Drazenovic if at Marsfield. If you make a call without a phone card at Narrabri, please log these long distance (STD) and overseas (ISD) phone calls in the blue folders next to the phones in the Control room and in Lodge dining room. These will be included in the bill prepared at the end of your stay.
