Remote Observing

Remote observing is available for experienced observers. To be deemed to be experienced, an observer must have observed, in person, at the ATCA in the previous twelve months. Approval for remote observing must be obtained first from the Officer-In-Charge, Phil Edwards: requests to remote observe should be sent to rem_obs@atnf.csiro.au with the project ID, observer's name and location for the remote observing, together with dates and AEST start and stop times for the observation.

For more information see the ATNF Remote Observing web pages
http://www.narrabri.atnf.csiro.au/observing/remote.html

A list of forth-coming remote observing sessions is available on the ATNF Forthcoming Remote Observing web pages
http://www.narrabri.atnf.csiro.au/observing/schedules/rem_obs.html.

To observe remotely you need to have an account and password for the ATNF unix network and know the atcaobs password on xbones, and the corr password on caccc well before the start of your observing

Information on remote observing is given
here.

DO NOT ATTEMPT TO START CAOBS BEFORE THE PREVIOUS OBSERVATION HAS FINISHED

Upon finishing the observations you must ensure that you exit completely from CAOBS and CACOR. All other windows should also be exited. It is requested that you wait until the next user or the DA at Narrabri has got CAOBS and CACOR running before you leave.

If no-one is to use the array immediately after you have finished, it is important that the array is properly stowed before you leave. Note that drives are stopped on exit from CAOBS, so always check in the /array or /pmon page of camon before exiting CAOBS.

Do not forget to fill in the Observer's Questionnaire.

See.
