Starting CACOR

Very few commands are entered into CACOR, but you should be familiar with the normal appearance of the CACOR screen. CACOR always runs on CACCC, and is displayed on PERICLES next to the CAOBS terminal. CACOR usually runs continuously. If you need to restart CACOR, perform these steps in order:

CHECK that CAOBS is not running.
If CAOBS running, exit by
CAOBS$>$ exit  Or if hung, press \fbox{CTRL}+\fbox{Y}.

Find a CACCC window on the PERICLES screens. If you can't find one, telnet to CACCC. First, ensure that CACCC has access to PERICLES with:
PERICLES% ssh -X corr@caccc

    Password in the Expert's Guide.

caccc:$>$setenv DISPLAY pericles:0
caccc:$>$ xterm &
caccc:$>$ xterm &

Start the correlator interface in one of these xterms:
caccc:$>$ cacor

Wait a minute or so until a screen similar to that shown above appears.

A config window comes up and the display status is ``waiting for CAOBS". CACOR is the server for the socket that is used for communications between XBONES and CACCC. Thus CAOBS should be started after CACOR, and if there are any problems that mean CACOR has to be restarted, CAOBS will have to be stopped and restarted after CACOR has been started.
In the CAOBS window on Pericles:
XBONES$ caobs

If the socket connection between CACOR and CAOBS fails, CAOBS will crash. In which case try to restart CAOBS again.

Once successful, CACOR should be running and waiting for commands. When it is restarted, CACOR recalls the last correlator configuration. Restarting major programs, like CACOR, takes a few cycles.
