Dear ATCA proposer, This email is to update you on the scheduling of ATCA proposals for the 2010APRS semester. With the call for proposals for 2010OCTS having just been released, we appreciate that observers want to know the likelihood of being scheduled in the remainder of this semester and/or whether or not they should resubmit their proposal for next semester. As described in the email to all ATCA proposers sent on March 8, delays in the implementation of CABB modes led us to a staged release of the ATCA schedule for this semester. The schedule current runs to June 27th and includes observations making use of up to 4 zoom bands per IF in the CABB 1M-0.5k mode. Next week, the schedule will be released through to July 27th for observations using these same modes. Progress with the development of the CABB 64M-32k mode in the meantime will determine how the schedule beyond that date will take shape. As a general indication, due to the high oversubscription this semester, 2010APRS proposals with a TAC grade of 3.6 or lower are unlikely to be allocated observing time this semester, and should be resubmitted for consideration in the 2010OCTS semester. Proposals with higher grades may be scheduled, but the individual likelihood depends on the requested array configuration, CABB mode, LST range, and TAC grade. However, as it is only the first ~3 weeks of the October semester in which conditions generally remain suitable for 3mm observing, proposals submitted for 3mm observing in the 2010APRS semester need not be resubmitted for consideration for scheduling in October, but will be considered alongside proposals submitted for 2010OCTS on the basis of their TAC grade. If in doubt, it is better to resubmit your proposal by the June 15 deadline including a note explaining that the proposal can be withdrawn if completely scheduled in the remainder of the 2010APRS semester. Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns. Regards, Phil Edwards Head of Science Operations
