Lodge staff provide meals and snacks for observers. Some meals (e.g., in
the evenings) will be prepared and left in the lodge refrigerator for
observers to heat in a microwave oven at their own convenience.
Please observe the signs indicating that microwaves should not be used
while observations using the 13cm band are in progress (the observing
schedule is on the opposite wall) and use the
convection oven instead. Coffee is available in the ground floor
Conference room and on the first floor of the Control Building.
Chocolate bars, soft drinks and beers can be also be purchased at any
time on an honesty basis. It is worth noting that the beer vending machine
only takes certain coins ($2, $1 and 20), so if desired bring
a plentiful supply!
In your reservation booking, please inform lodge staff of any particular food requirements. On arrival at the Lodge, you will find your room allocation listed on a board located in the dining room near the kitchen. Above the basin in your room you will find a key with the access code to the control building. In the evenings and after dark, there are often many kangaroos around; and in summer snakes are occasionally found outside the control building and Lodge. There is a torch provided in each bedroom, to help avoid any undesirable encounters. Also in each bedroom is information about a required Safety Induction that visitors must undertake, and for DAs an additional Antenna Safety Induction. Further information about the site and environs will be found in the bedrooms.
A washing machine is located in the laundry next to the flat. Forgotten toiletries or washing powder can be usually be obtained at a small price from the wall cabinet off the hall next to the bathrooms.
