When the Compact Array stows, all antennas point to the zenith (actually azimuth 90°, elevation 85°) and their drives are turned off. This is the safest state in high winds from any direction. The following command stows all antennas:

If CAOBS is not running in the CAOBS window, try to start it by typing
caobs at the CAOBS window. (If the window is frozen,
you may need to press the
key and the
key simultaneously first to get a Linux
prompt ($ sign) in the CAOBS window and then restart caobs.) Type stow and press
the Return key at the caobs prompt. If the procedure described above
fails to stow all
antennas, and you fear an emergency, contact the Duty
Astronomer.
If you cannot find the Duty Astronomer, or if the wind situation is critical:

The Operator Stow switch initiates an emergency elevation stow of any
unstowed antennas. If the stow is successful, you will see the
``stowed'' LED illuminate after about five minutes. If the
stow fails, alarms will sound, and onsite personnel will be alerted.
NOTE THAT AN EMERGENCY STOW ONLY STOWS IN ELEVATION. Therefore if you go out to the antenna, the upper part of the stairway to the upper level of the antenna may not be connected to the lower part, and the gate to the stairway will automatically lock. You will be unable to use the stairway.
You can also control the antenna drives from the Antenna Pedestal Rooms. The door key for all antennas (which also opens the front door of the control building) is in your Lodge room when you arrive and a spare is hanging on the South wall of the Control Room. A basic set of instructions is stuck each ACC keyboard.
