The standard approach to calibration of the array is as follows:
- Ensure that the Tsys field on CAOBS reads ON.
(Enter the command CAOBS
enable tsys if not.)
- Track a strong calibrator (like 1934
638).
- Wait until the telescope is on source and the attenuators and sampler
statistics have settled down, and the delays are stable.
- Enter the command xbones:
$ cacal .
- Choose Automatic [A] mode.
- Check the results on the VIS display. Note that it takes a few cycles for
the data to be displayed. If all went well ASSISTANCE should tell you
ALL SYSTEMS OK and VIS should show the delays and phases all
close to zero and the amplitudes all equal (for each frequency).
