Local Oscillator Software

LO_MON is a process which reads the local oscillator round-trip phase measurements from the local oscillator PC, converts these to one-way phases and writes them to the file: at$lo:lo1_phase.log. Any problems detected in the data are recorded in the file: at$lo:lo1_phase.glitch. Normally, you should not need to interact with LO_MON.

The local oscillator software is presently in transition due to continuing upgrade work, and is subject to change. If you require detailed information about it, ask the Duty Astronomer or local staff.

If the round-trip phase stabilisation is disabled, use:
CAOBS$>$ set Acceptlo_track_off

To start LO_MON, enter:
XBONES$>$ @at$run:start_lo_mon.

Note that starting this process will disrupt observations. For more information about the local oscillator system, try running LOPLOT on a XBONES xterm. LOPLOT displays the local oscillator 2-way phase data at 1GHz as collected and analysed by LO_MON. It can be used to examine either the current LO phases or archived data. It can be started by entering:
$ loplot
and following the instructions.
