Using CAMON

CAMON can be started from a XBONES terminal by:
$>$ camon

If you are running ASSISTANCE from a terminal, and want CAMON instead, enter the command ASSISTANCE$>$camon to start CAMON. Enter the command CAMON$>$exit to get back to ASSISTANCE.

To display a particular CAMON page you simply type
CAMON$>$ /xxxxxxx  ie. a forward slash followed by the name of the CAMON page.

Where the supported pages are listed .

Fields in error are indicated in reverse video. Investigate any error that persists for more than a few minutes. Any error has the potential to corrupt your data. Wait for a scan to proceed for at least one minute before you become suspicious of sampler level or tracking errors. After any action, you must wait for the CAMON screen to refresh three or four times before you can expect the action to take effect.

Note that any condition that causes the CAMON terminal to emit an alarm deserves immediate attention. If the problem is a weather alert (high wind or electrical storm), you must stop observing and stow the antennas immediately.

The print command can be used in CAMON to print the currently displayed page to the laser printer, this can be useful for documenting failures. Refer to the Troubleshooting Section for advice on how to deal with problems revealed by CAMON.
