Shadowing Diagrams

The hour angle range that the ATCA can observe is limited by the horizon of the antennas (12o). Additionally, in some configurations, some antennas shadow others. In east-west configurations, shadowing happens for a range of declinations between +30o and -47o for spacings which are 61 m or shorter. For hybrid configurations, the shadowing is more complex.

The following diagrams give the range to hour angles where a given source is above the horizon and unshadowed: the grey areas are the areas of unobstructed observing.
