Narrabri visitor centre redevelopment
Concepts for new displays
CSIRO is working with Convergence Design and ADS Solutions to design, build and install new outdoor displays at our Narrabri Observatory. The following illustrations show some of these new displays. These are concept illustrations and the final displays may be different. The illustrations, concepts and overall plan of displays remain the property of Convergence Design. If you would like further information or comment on the displays then contact the visitor centre coordinator at atnf-enquiries@csiro.au.
Visitors will be encouraged to follow a clockwise path around a series of displays on ATNF, CSIRO, the observatory, astronomy and radio astronomy, the Compact Array and astronomical phenomena studied at the observatory. The displays work in with the exisiting landscaping plan.

A model of our Milky Way Galaxy will be the corner piece of the visitor experience. The location of several subjects of study using the compact array will be marked on the model and explained in surrounding displays.
An adjacent display will discuss interacting galaxies, in particular the Magalenic Clouds and the Milky Way.
Displays will introduce some of the basic science, such as the electromagnetic spectrum.
Several different but consistent display boards will be used depending on their location and use.

A new viewing deck will provide a clear view of the antennas and include displays on the anatomy and workings of the telescope.
