Finishing off
Ensure that there is enough time to do amplitude calibration if this wasn't done at the start of the observations
Handing Over
Generally, the Duty Astronomer should be available to help observers when changing from one program to the next.
However, it isn't very compicated as all you usually have to do is tell tell the next observer that you have finished and allow them to start their observing.
If the next observer is observing remotely, you may need to 'phone them to let them know.
If the telescope is not going to be used, you need to stow it by typing:
caobs> stow
Before leaving, please
ensure that the antennas are all stowed.
Archiving
Generally, observers save their ATCA data on a CD, however, increasingly, they are copying their data directly to their own hard disks or recovering it from the ATCA On Line Archive (ATOA)
Saving to CD
Exports is the gui program on the computer furious, which allows observers to select files that they wish to copy to CD. To do this:
- click update to ensure that you have all up to date files
- on the source panel, choose files that you wish to export
- click the label box
- click go
If there are more than 650 MBytes make 2 CDs (or make a DVD).
Copying to personal hard disk
To copy data directly from CACCC to your hard disk:
hostname> scp uname@skull.atnf.csiro.au:/DATA/CACCC_1/*.c### .
Recovering data from ATOA
See the ATOA web pages for information on copying data from the ATOA
